Mario Tapia & Liz Ferreira-Tapia

Liz and Mario are the new managing team at Empire/ Penn Valley Fence Supply. They bring with them plenty of experience. Both Liz & Mario came from a large fencing company in the Bay Area, where Liz managed a staff of over 35 people and Mario was the Sales Manager. 

They have known Louie & Joyce Osterude, the owners of Empire/Penn Valley Fence Supply, for over 10 years. Actually, Liz and Louie met while serving together on the California Fence Contractors Association Board of Directors. In 2007 Liz became the first woman to be elected President of the California Fence Contractors Association and during Liz’s term in office Mario sat as the Executive Director of the Association. Both Liz and Mario have graduated from the American Fence Association Field Training School in Georgia. In addition, to their experience, education and volunteer efforts within their industry, Liz and Mario also found time to volunteer in their community. They coached & volunteered support to both youth football & youth cheerleading programs in the Bay Area.

Still, Mario and Liz felt as though they would enjoy moving to a more rural location. The opportunity presented itself when the Osterudes mentioned they were looking for someone to manage Empire/Penn Valley Fence Supply, while they pursued traveling and more leisure time. The proposition worked for everyone! Liz and Mario accepted the offer and moved to Penn Valley. Mario plans to fish, hunt & golf and show his grandchildren all the ways to enjoy outdoor activities. Liz plans to take time to smell the roses, have more time to enjoy her grandchildren and embrace the slower pace of life in Nevada County.
